Restaurant Review

35 Steaks + Martinis
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino - Las Vegas
Fistfuls: 6 out of 10

4455 Paradise Road
Las Vegas, NV 89169
702.693.5000
800.HRD.ROCK (693.7625)

SUMMARY:  My husband bought a special which included 2 drinks or a bottle of wine, 1 appetizer to share, 1 soup or salad per person, and 1 entrée each.  After our meal, I was glad we didn’t pay full price.  It’s very frustrating when a steak house is unable to properly cook a steak!  The only saving grace was the Spicy Serrano Martini!

Holiday Card Rant

Season’s Greetings Family and Friends!

It’s that time of year again when bundles of holiday cards start making their way to our mailboxes.  Traditional holiday cards are a way for us to remember the people we love, acknowledge individuals who have touched our lives, and reconnect with those with whom we have lost touch.  The holiday card has good intentions.  It’s an opportunity to let people know that you care and think about them. (Well, at least once a year anyhow).

After years of the traditional holiday card, people started sending the infamous “holiday newsletter”.  In this letter, the sender typically writes a page or two detailing the events, activities, and accomplishments of the previous year and sends in place of a traditional holiday card.  I appreciate people who take the time to update everyone on the happenings of their life, especially if they also include pictures!

What I'm Really Thankful For

This is the time of year when reflecting on what one is thankful for is common practice.  Most people give the same old unoriginal, cliché answers each year.  “I am thankful for my spouse, my children, my family, and my friends.  I am thankful I have the means to keep a roof over my head, food on the table and for my health”.

Before you start making assumptions regarding my priorities, I would just like to say that I do agree with those answers.  In fact, I would typically answer exactly the same.  But when thinking about my list this year, I wanted to take a look at the non-traditional things I am thankful for.  At first, my goal was to be funny, yet honest, and hopefully give people a laugh.  I had no idea that one little word in the “same old unoriginal” list would strike such a chord with me as I was typing.  That word is HEALTH.
